Child Development Center Staff
CDC STAFF: All CDC staff have various backgrounds in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development including degrees, workshops, continuing education courses and at least a minimum of two years experience. CDC staff participate in workshops, training, and continuing education courses throughout the year based on the professional development requirements for CDC staff.
Jennifer Lacewell is the Director of the Child Development Center. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Consumer Science with a concentration in Child Development and Family Relations from the North Carolina Central University and a Master of Education in Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Ms. Jennifer has served young children and families for over 16 years. In her leisure, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, dining out, shopping, playing board games, traveling, and singing. She is a member of the Child Care Services Association Governing Board, the Durham County NC Pre K School Readiness Committee, the Durham Pre K Quality Subcommittee, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Kiana Lattimore, a native New Yorker, is an Assistant NC Pre K/Durham Pre K teacher in the Blue Room. She is happily married and the proud mother of one son. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development from North Carolina A & T State University. Ms. Kiana has served young children and families for over 15 years. In her leisure, she enjoys spending quality time playing sports, board games, traveling with her family, engaging in creative art, reading books, and cooking. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Gina Allen is a Lead NC Pre K/Durham Pre K teacher in the Blue Room. She is a proud wife and a mother of six children. Mrs. Gina earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a Master of Arts in Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix. She holds a Standard Professional II, Birth through Kindergarten teacher license, with the state of North Carolina. Mrs. Gina has served young children and families for over 9 years. In her leisure, she loves spending quality time with her family, cooking, and baking. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. “I enjoy every aspect of teaching and realized throughout the years, my students teach me just as much as I teach them.”
GOVERNANCE: A governing board consisting of volunteer members of White Rock Baptist Church oversees the operation of the center. The governing board sets policies and procedures for the center and adopts the annual budget. They work closely with the CDC Director regarding the overall operation management of the CDC.
