CAST Ministry Needs Donations for W.G. Pearson Elementary
If you are looking for a place to serve, there are volunteer opportunities at our newly adopted school across the street, W.G. Pearson Elementary. Please join this fantastic ministry – Church and School Together (CAST) – as we support our neighbor with school supplies, tutoring, and providing food to students during weekends and holidays.
As Christians, we have an obligation to support children and youth as they grow and develop. CAST appreciates the cooperation of the congregation and asks for your continued participation and support.
Our contact person is Delbert Jarmon, WG Pearson Family/Community Liaison, and he would like for us to provide the following items and others to the school:
- School supplies
- Bottled water
- Large bottles of hand sanitizers
- Sanitizing wipes
- Lysol Disinfectant Spray
If you have any questions please email the CAST Chair.
Visit Inmates by Video: Volunteers Needed!
Are you willing to visit with Durham County inmates via video from your own home?
There is an inmate in the Durham County Jail who needs YOU to talk to him/her about the goodness of God. The White Rock Agape Incarceration Ministry (AIM), sometimes known as the “Jail Ministry,” is seeking volunteers to visit with inmates from the comfort of your homes. Our regular jail volunteers have not been allowed to visit inmates during the pandemic. Actually, the inmates have not been allowed to have any visitors, even family.
Unlike regular jail ministry volunteers, you do not have to submit an application or be cleared by the Sheriff’s Department to use the video visit system. Anyone can do it! There’s no charge to you and each visit is limited to ten minutes maximum. You must have an email address and a computer with a microphone and a camera. The video system doesn’t work with Smartphones or with Apple products.
You do not need any special skills to communicate with inmates, just be a good listener, pray with or for them and do not judge them for their crimes. Also, do not give any personal information about yourself other than your first name. If you’re interested in learning more and getting set up to participate, please click here to contact Tim Coles, Chair of AIM.
Become an Ambassador for the Lord!
The WRBC Greeters Ministry has launched an initiative to welcome devoted church members (male and female), to this important welcoming hospitality ministry. As a greeter, you are called to a ministry of love. The God kind of agape love. Just by being a greeter, you help the pastor fulfill the vision that God has given to him. We pray that the Holy Spirit leads as you contemplate the following questions.
- Do you have a loving and warm smile?
- Are you friendly, welcoming and helpful to strangers?
- Do you have a firm handshake or enjoy giving hugs?
- Are you able to commit to serve the Lord in the body of Christ on ONE (1) Sunday each month?
Praise the Lord!!! By answering YES to the four questions, you meet the requirements. If you have questions or if you have interest in volunteering, click this link to contact Dr. Mary C. Foster, Greeters Ministry Chair. We appreciate your interest!

Ushers Ministry Seeks Members with a Heart to Serve!
Do you have a heart to serve God’s people? Members of our Ushers Ministry meet, greet, and seat God’s people for services, respond to the needs of members during services, and receive offerings. Next Sunday after service, please be aware of ushers in the vestibule and downstairs by the elevator distributing information flyers and answering questions regarding our Ushers Ministry – we are using this as a recruitment tool. Religious/Inspirational Literature Needed
Check your bookshelves… you probably have a lot of religious and/or inspirational literature that you will never read again! The White Rock Agape Incarceration Ministry (AIM) is in need of this type of literature to share with inmates in the Durham County Jail. Please note that only PAPERBACK books can be accepted!
Items may be placed in the mailbox of Tim Coles located in the church library. If items are too large for his mailbox, please put Tim’s name on the boxes or bags and leave on the table under the window in the library. Your contributions may lead someone to Christ!
Please note that this ministry is also in dire need of volunteers who are willing to visit inmates on Saturday mornings with Tim Coles, the chair of AIM. For more information about becoming a volunteer, click this link to contact Tim.
